Marie Jones, Principal
Marie
Jones brings over 20 years of experience in economic development, market analysis, training design and delivery, and proposal
writing to her practice. Current projects include a market and economic analysis
for the revitalization of the City of Roseville’s
historic downtown, and a parking in-lieu fee study for Sierra Madre. Recently completed projects include: the formulation of a new Jobs and Business Strategy for the City
of Long Beach, a re-use and economic development
strategy for the City of Fort Bragg and the 435 acre Georgia-Pacific mill site. Other work includes the development and implementation
of Long Beach’s new Green Building program, an economic development strategy for Kern County, a feasibility and market
study for a 52,000 square foot arts facility in Long Beach, the preparation of a successful development proposal and business
plan for the Malibu Pier, a feasibility and market analysis for a 40,000 square foot mixed-use project in San Francisco, and
the provision of real estate advisory services, market analysis and feasibility studies for a variety of other projects.
Prior to starting her consulting firm, Marie worked
as a Senior Associate at Bay Area Economics where she specialized in market analysis, economic development and facility feasibility
studies. While at Bay Area Economics, she was project manager for the reuse feasibility
study for the historic 77,000 square foot Old Mint project in downtown San Francisco. She also prepared two economic development strategies for two redevelopment areas
of Portland, Oregon, a comprehensive faculty housing assessment for 13 campuses of California State University, an economic
development strategy for downtown Benicia, a market analysis for a conference and training center at NASA, and market studies
for low-income housing.
Marie served as the Director of Economic Development
for the San Francisco Partnership, where she managed a strategy to assist arts and human service non-profit organizations
facing rapidly rising rents. For this critical project, Jones provided real estate advisory
services and technical assistance, and wrote successful proposals to fund a $5 million equity grants program for the
purchase of permanently affordable space. Jones now serves on the technical advisory
committee for this fund. While at the San Francisco Partnership she also led
efforts to attract and retain over 150 high technology companies and a smart gowth initiative.
Jones served as Manager of Economic Development
for Diablo Valley College
and Director of Training and Economic Development for the Michigan Manufacturing
Technology Center, where she earned a national reputation
as an excellent trainer for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of the Department of Commence.
Earlier,
she worked on low-income housing development in Ithaca, New York,
and on the redevelopment of the earthquake-damaged downtown in Santa Cruz, California.
Ms. Jones holds a Masters of City Planning from Cornell
University and a B.A. in Biology and Environmental Studies from University
of California at Santa Cruz. She is a USGBC LEED Accredited Green Building Professional.
She serves
on the City of San Francisco’s Grants for the Arts Citizen’s Advisory
Committee, the Northern California Community Loan Fund’s Capital Space Grant Committee, the San Francisco Arts Commission’s
Cultural Equity Grant Committee, and as a Board member of the Butters Land Trust.
